Three types of innovation can be distinguished in business:

With efficiency innovation, minimal changes, for example in production, lead to more income with less effort. The goals are achieved with the right, i.e. new, better, means.

The sustained innovation is about the step-by-step, sequential further development of an already existing product that is successful on the market.

Disruptive (Clayton Christensen) innovations result in fundamental market changes: Traditional business models, technologies or processes; Products or services are radically called into question by radical problem solutions and are largely or even completely pushed out of the market.

Innovation does not happen without investment.
